Software & Version: CrossOver XI Linux

Homepage Link: http://www.codeweavers.com/products/

Description: CrossOver allows you to install many popular Windows applications and PC games on your Linux computer. You can think of it as an emulator, but it's different, because there's no Windows OS license required. Your applications integrate seamlessly Linux; just click and run. No rebooting, no switching to a virtual machine, and no Windows Operating System license required!

Crossover is a based on wine but is not opensource. For that reason i would almost always chose wine, however wine can be a bit of a ... "female dog" sometimes :D. Another one that is based on wine is winex...The choice is yours and people will prefer different ones because of a certain application running better on one then the another.

i like them over your standard virtual machines, because you are not running a program to boot into a windows OS, etc...
